Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Audley Shaw has accepted the resignation of Chairman of the Student Loan Bureau (SLB), Andrew Cocking, and other members of the Board.
This follows a meeting with members of the Board, today (August 11), during which the audit report submitted by the Public Accountability Inspectorate Division on the operations of the SLB was discussed.

“In all of the circumstances that have been revealed by this report of the Public Accountability Inspectorate Division of the Ministry of Finance, I have accepted the resignations of the members of the Board. Accordingly, I will be recommending new membership of the Board to Cabinet on Monday (August 16) at which time we expect the appropriate approval and we can have a new Board constituted thereafter,” Mr. Shaw said.
The Minister was speaking at the weekly post Cabinet press briefing, held today at Jamaica House.
Mr. Shaw also announced that Director of the Credit Unions Department at the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), Monica Brown is to act as Executive Director of the SLB until a new Executive Director is appointed.
Miss Brown holds an MBA with distinction from the Nova South Eastern University, and a BSc in Economics and Management from the University of the West Indies. She has worked with the BOJ since 1973 and has been Director of the Credit Unions Department since 2003.

The Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday (August 10) the termination of the contract of the former Executive Director of the SLB, Lenice Barnett, as a result of the findings of the audit carried out by the Public Accountability Inspectorate Division of the Ministry.
