The Full Story

Mayor of Lucea and chairman of the Hanover Parish Council, Councillor Lloyd Hill has pledged to utilize the resources and expertise of the council to improve the provision of services to the residents of the parish.
“I am confident that each member of this team of councillors has a worthwhile contribution to make and it is my intention to ensure that the strength of each member is fully utilized, so that our combined efforts with that of the administrative staff of this council, will fulfill our responsibility for delivering the best possible services to the people of Hanover,” he stated at the swearing in ceremony for the seven-member parish council held yesterday (Dec. 13).
This is the second mayoral term for Councillor Hill, who was successfully returned to the parish council in the recent local government Election, and his third successive victory at the polls.
Also sworn into office at the ceremony held in the council’s chambers was: Fredrick Miller of the Green Island Division, who will serve as deputy mayor of Lucea and deputy chairman of the council; Easton Edwards representing the Lucea division; Wynter McIntosh representing the Chester Castle division; Albert Lee from the Riverside division, Junior Allen from the Cauldwell division; and Derrick Foster from the Hopewell division. The councillors, in their brief remarks after taking the oath of office, all pointed to the need for a united council, irrespective of political allegiance. In the meantime, Acting Custos Rotolorum for the parish, Enid Gonsalves, urged the members to be attentive to the needy and to show respect to all people.
Member of Parliament for Eastern Hanover, D.K. Duncan, encouraged the council to work together as a team in the interest of the development of the parish. He also called for openness, transparency and accountability within the council.
