United States (US)-based organisation Right Now For Jamaica (RNFJ), recently established in Maryland, will host its inaugural Fundraiser Gala Dinner and Concert on March 28.
The event is billed as an elegant evening celebrating culture, purpose, and philanthropy.
Slated for the Royal Ballroom in Bowie, Maryland, just outside Washington DC, the gala is poised to bring together members of the Jamaican Diaspora, corporate leaders, policymakers, philanthropists, and friends of Jamaica for an unforgettable evening of fine dining, live entertainment, and collective action.
The event is dedicated to advancing Jamaica’s recovery and building long-term resilience in the wake of last October’s devastating hurricane.
“In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, Jamaica has demonstrated extraordinary strength and unity,” says RNFJ Vice President, Dr. Maurice Miles.
Yet, he emphasised that as recovery transitions into long-term rebuilding, the need for sustained partnership and investment remains paramount.
“This Gala serves as a platform to mobilise the diaspora and corporate community around a shared commitment: rebuilding Jamaica stronger, smarter, and more climate resilient,” Dr. Maurice Miles added.
The Gala embodies a broader movement among diaspora leaders and strategic partners to move beyond short-term response, advancing towards sustainable recovery and renewal.
Dr. Miles noted that by convening public and private-sector stakeholders in one space, the event fosters meaningful partnerships aimed at driving measurable impact across the island.
He pointed out that since RNFJ has been active on the ground, it has provided assistance in St. Elizabeth, adopted the hurricane-ravaged Percy Junor Hospital (now serving residents of St. Elizabeth and surrounding parishes) and donated medical supplies valued over $100,000, with additional shipments en route.
Organisers of the gala fundraiser promise attendees an evening that showcases Jamaica’s rich culture and creativity, while directly contributing to rebuilding initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to communities across the island.
Two-time Grammy-nominated reggae recording artiste, Etana – herself an RNFJ director – will headline the evening’s entertainment alongside superstar artistes Mykal Roze and Ras Mista Fyah, Julian Junior Marvin, and the legendary Wailers.

Proceeds from the event will directly fuel rebuilding efforts across Jamaica’s critical sectors – education, healthcare, and infrastructure – helping to restore and strengthen communities for the future.
