KINGSTON — Cabinet has approved the transfer of Lots 66 and 67 at the Baywest Shopping Centre, Montego Bay, St. James to the Strata Corporation, in settlement of outstanding maintenance fees of approximately $7.5 million.

This was disclosed by Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz during a post Cabinet press briefing, held at Jamaica House on April 20.

Approval has also been granted for thetransfer of Lots 62 to 65 to the Commissioner of Lands for use by the Tax Administration Services Department for construction of its regional office.

Cabinet also approved the sale of 856 square metres of land, Lot No. 3 Institution Drive, Santa Cruz in the parish of St. Elizabeth, to Leebert Redman, in the sum of

$7 million, for the purpose of providing additional parking to support the plaza being built adjacent to the property.

In the meantime, Cabinet gave approval for the acquisition of Lots 31 and 33, part of Braco Resort in the parish of Trelawny by the National Insurance Fund (NIF), for purchase consideration of US$140,000.00 and US$135,000.00, respectively.

“Based on their location, the lots are of strategic value and utility to the Braco Resort, which is owned by the NIF, as they currently form part of the property’s 9-hole golf course,” Mr. Vaz said.
