The Full Story

The importance of good healthcare and its impact on human and social development has been underscored  by Her Excellency the Most Hon Lady Allen.

She  is also calling  for more emphasis to be placed on educating patients about  adopting healthy lifestyles.

“When we assess the enormous amount of medical and financial resources spent on the treatment of chronic non communicable diseases (NCDs), we realise that expenditure and loss of productivity due to illness could derail our development objectives,” Lady Allen said.

She was delivering the keynote address at the 19th annual conference of Western Regional Health Authority Dental Auxiliaries, at the Royal White Sands Resort in Trelawny on  May 11.

She pointed out  that many dental auxiliaries  are  seeing several of their patients when dental cavities and other oral maladies are far advanced.

Many persons are not aware that there is a direct correlation between some of the cardiac issues we face and our dental problem, therefore, educating our patients is crucial,” Lady Allen  said.
