The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) building in downtown Kingston, is to be renamed in honour of the late Mayor and Minister of Local Government, Ralph Brown.
Making the announcement at the KSAC’s monthly press briefing yesterday (January 11), Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Desmond McKenzie said the official rededication and renaming of the building would take place in early April. In the meantime, work is to commence on the renovation of the building.
“We think it is fitting that if you are going to name a building in honour of someone who has contributed immensely to local government, then the building must be put in a proper way,” Mayor McKenzie emphasised.The proposal to rename the building in honour of Mayor Brown was put forward by the previous Council.Mayor Brown served the Council between 1986 and 1989.
