The Full Story

The Tourism Linkages Network (TLN) will be hosting a five-part Knowledge Network online discussion series beginning today, Friday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m.

The events will be streamed live on the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) YouTube channel and Facebook and Instagram pages @tefjamaica.

Director of the TLN, Carolyn McDonald Riley, told JIS News that the series is targeting tourism workers as well as suppliers to the industry.

She said that the discussions will explore topical issues in relation to the rebuilding of Jamaica’s tourism industry.

Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, will be among the panellists for Friday’s session, which will focus on ‘Tourism Diplomacy – Rebuilding Tourism Safely’.

Other panellists include General Manager of Jamaica Inn, Kyle Mais; President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), Clifton Reader; Director of Tourism, Donovan White; and Professor of Public Health, Epidemiology and HIV/AIDS at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Professor Peter Figueroa.

The session will be moderated by Chairman of the TLN’s Knowledge Network, Omar Robinson.

The series continues with a discussion on ‘How Tourism has impacted other Sectors’ (Parts 1 and 2) on May 14 and 20, respectively; ‘Cruise Home-porting: Benefits for our Destination’ on May 27; and ‘Destination Weddings’ on June 11.

The Knowledge Network is among the five networks that were officially launched in December 2016 as part of the TLN initiative to help better position the sector to generate higher growth rates in both visitor arrivals and earnings.

The Tourism Linkages Network is a Department of the TEF.
