As Government moves to improve operational efficiencies at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), Cabinet has endorsed the award of a contract valued at US$932,250 to Trapeze Software Group, for the supply of scheduling and dispatching software to the transport company.
Addressing journalists at Monday’s (March 22) post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, Information Minister, Senator Burchell Whiteman informed that the software would be implemented in segments over a two-year period.
It is expected to improve efficiency at the JUTC and ultimately reduce the company’s operational cost. Savings will accrue to the company after the full implementation of the software, Senator Whiteman added.
“When the full implementation of the software is done. the cost of it would be recovered within two years, that is four years from the first implementation of the first element of it,” he explained further.
