Justice Minister Commends Outgoing Permanent Secretary

Minister of Justice, Hon. Delroy Chuck, has thanked outgoing Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Carol Palmer, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET).

“When I first came to the Ministry of Justice and met with Permanent Secretary Carol Palmer, it was very clear to me her passion for justice. I take this opportunity to thank you for the work you have done to ensure that so much has been accomplished in the last three years,” the Minister said.

He was speaking at the Ministry’s quarterly press conference, held today (February 15) at the Ministry in Kingston.

The Minister also used the occasion to welcome the new Permanent Secretary, Sancia Bennett Templer.

“We are proud of what the Ministry of Justice has done, and a lot of the credit must go to you as the Permanent Secretary,” Mr. Chuck told Mrs. Palmer.

He wished Mrs. Palmer all the best as she fulfils her new role.

“Even though I will be losing her, I know that the new Ministry needs her because she is the hard-working, hard-hitting, hard-punching person that a Ministry like MSET needs,” the Minister said.

“I know that you will be able to improve the image of the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology and that, in due course, that Ministry will regain the trust of the Government and people of Jamaica. We hope that your work there will be as great as it has been in the Ministry of Justice,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Minister said he will brief Mrs. Bennett Templer and work very closely with her “to ensure that the Ministry of Justice achieves many, many more programmes that we have in store”.
