The Full Story

The Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Jones Town Primary School to host a forum on Primary Education on Thursday, October 10, at the school located at 27 Love Street.

This school is among a group of educational institutions that have been educating the nation’s children for over a century.  In its earlier years of operation, the school acquired a well deserved reputation for being exceptional in preparing students for placement into traditional high school.

The school’s reputation has waned, and the current Board of Management, which was appointed in April 2012 and chaired by Mrs. Maria Jones, is pursuing a redevelopment agenda.

“The Ministry of Education is supporting the redevelopment and repositioning of the Jones Town Primary School, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year,” Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Grace McLean, told JIS News.

According to Mrs. McLean, the special forum on primary education represents part of the Ministry’s contribution to the centenary celebrations.

The event, which will target parents, teachers and the wider community, will feature interactive presentations on topics such as, Parenting, Children with Special Needs, Nutrition,  the New Curriculum and Educating Boys.
