The Full Story

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) has extended the deadline for the submission of entries for its 2022 competitions.

The original February 28 date has been pushed back to allow potential participants more time to complete and submit their entries.

The new deadline for the JCDC’s flagship event, the Jamaica Festival Song Competition, and the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition, is March 18.

Other competitions with deadlines rescheduled for this month are: the National Festival of the Arts: Music, Dance, Speech, Drama and Theatre, the Traditional Folk Forms Competition – March 14; and the Jamaica Visual Arts Competition, and Creative Writing Competition – March 31.

Entries for the Jamaica Gospel Star Competition should be submitted by April 15, and those for the Jamaica Culinary Arts Competition by May 13.

All entries should be submitted by 4:30 p.m. each day.

The JCDC’s Public Relations Coordinator, Kristen Laing, encourages persons to take advantage of the extended deadlines to participate in this year’s competitions, which will commemorate Jamaica’s 60th Independence anniversary

“Persons are allowed and encouraged to enter as many competitions as is applicable to their talents,” she told JIS News.

All submissions should be done online, via the JCDC’s website – www.jcdc.gov.jm, which also provides information regarding the application process, and competition rules and guidelines.

The competitions are being staged under the theme – ‘Re-igniting a Nation for Greatness’.
