The Full Story

Agrofest 2007, the premier agricultural and industrial show for Kingston and St. Andrew, promises to be a grand event this year, with impressive displays of farm produce and an exciting entertainment package guaranteed to please the entire family.
“We are mixing agriculture with festival and fun,” said Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) President, Senator Norman Grant, at the launch of the event yesterday (May 9) at St. Jude’s Church Hall in Stony Hill.
An annual event of the Kingston and St. Andrew Associations of Branch Societies of the JAS, Agrofest 2007 will be held on May 26 at Jamaica College under the theme: ‘Advancing Rural and Economic Development through Agriculture’.
Senator Grant informed that the show, which will cost the association about $500,000, will include agricultural and horticultural displays; farm queen; livestock and youth in agriculture competitions; farmers market; and a canine display put on by Guardsman Limited.
He urged parents to “come out and bring the children, because at Jamaica College there will be entertainment and there will be a kiddie’s village.”
The entry cost is $300 for adults and $100 for children and a lucky patron will win a weekend for two at Negril Tree House Resort in Westmoreland.
Sponsors of the event include Music 99 fm, Love 101 and Power 106.
