JANAAC Senior Director Appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer

Senior Director of Accreditation, Training and Quality Management at JANAAC Global Accreditation, Dr. Yvette Castell, has been appointed to serve as the organisation’s Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Dr. Castell’s appointment follows the departure of outgoing CEO, Sharonmae Walker, who demitted the position on October 25.

The Acting CEO is an accomplished executive with more than 30 years’ experience in certification, auditing, accreditation, quality management and training.

While serving as JANAAC Senior Director, Dr. Castell consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise, making significant contributions to the agency’s mission and goals.

In addition to her role at JANAAC, Dr. Castell was recently appointed Chair of the Caribbean Cooperation for Accreditation (CCA) Committee by the Council of the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ).

She is also part of several Jamaican and international technical committees, including those of the Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

At a recent farewell event for the outgoing CEO, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator the Hon. Aubyn Hill, praised Mrs. Walker for her unwavering dedication and visionary leadership, emphasising her profound impact on JANAAC and the accreditation sector.

“Sharonmae has demonstrated a profound sense of purpose, inspiring those around her with strong values, fearless leadership and a steadfast faith,” he noted.

Under Mrs. Walker’s leadership, JANAAC achieved numerous milestones, including the expansion of accreditation services to CARICOM Member States and historic membership in the IAF.

Dr. Castell has indicated that she intends to continue the strategic vision articulated by Mrs. Walker and advance JANAAC’s mission of promoting quality assurance and enhancing trade in the Caribbean.
