The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) will be hosting a forum aimed at promoting strategic foresight and planning, in order to accelerate the pace of business and development in Jamaica.

JAMPRO President, Diane Edwards, said the objective of the event, to be held on Thursday (March 10), “is to expand the thought process of decision-makers beyond focusing on short-term challenges and immediate needs, but to create a sustainable future built on innovation and a broader measure of success.”

“JAMPRO believes that there is significant value in sharing the strategic foresight and planning approach and seeks to present an argument for a shift in the mental model of decision-makers,” she told JIS News.

Leaders in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, manufacturing, tourism, mining and energy, agriculture, agro-processing and services sectors are expected to attend the event.

Author of the popular book ‘The Shift Age’, David Houle, has been invited to address the breakfast forum. He is expected to speak on the use of strategic foresight as a tool for nation building.

JAMPRO hopes to facilitate discussion around the implications of the ideas contained in the ‘The Shift Age’ for the development and marketing of a Jamaica Business Brand.

The agency also hopes to assist participants with conceptualising the plausible futures for Jamaica and identify useful actions that can be taken in the present towards achieving the desired future.
