Several Jamalco volunteers participated in pre-Labour Day activities at the Lionel Town Hospital in Clarendon, on Friday(May 15).
The day was largely dedicated to the painting of the main walkway connecting the administrative block and outpatient departments to the wards.
Community Relations Officer for the Clarendon-based bauxite company, Phillip Biggs, said that only a third of the work has already been done, and it would be completed on Labour Day, May 25. He said that other areas will be painted, while repair work will be done to a section of the roof of the walkway, and a partition wall on the male ward.
“We will continue with repairs to a section of the roof of the walkway, and we will be acquiring some spray guns to ensure that the work proceed as quickly as possible on Labour Day,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer at the hospital, Beverly Douglas, expressed gratitude to the members of the Jamalco team, citing the effort as a much-needed bit of intervention.
