The Full Story

A community health fair is to be staged on Friday, February 24, by Jamalco, at its Sports Club in Halse Hall, Clarendon.
In an interview with JIS News, Pamela White, Public and Community Relations Administrator at Jamalco, said the fair is aimed at supporting health care for the residents of communities surrounding the alumina refinery.
“We have invited residents from the communities of Top and Bottom Halse Hall, Hunts Pen, and New Bowens to access the services being provided. This community health fair is in keeping with Jamalco’s focus on environmental health and safety, and is an extension of the company’s Wellness Programme for its workforce,” she added.
Mrs. White said persons would be able to benefit from eye examinations, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, weight monitoring and health educational sessions, free of charge.
Services will be provided by a medical team from Jamalco’s Environmental Health and Safety Department. The fair is expected to commence at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.
Other communities currently benefit from health services provided at the Raymonds Health Centre, where Jamalco has invested $1 million for the year, to pay for the services of a medical doctor and a nurse.
