The Full Story

Persons interested in developing their leadership skills are being invited to apply to participate in the Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue 2025 (CCLD 2025), set to take place from May 22 to June 1, 2025.

Applications are open to individuals from Canada and 26 Caribbean nations, including Jamaica.

The programme invites participants from all sectors, including business, government, education, labour and civil society, to apply and engage in cross-sector leadership development.

Interested persons have until March 1 to submit their applications and are being asked to visit http://commonwealthleaders.org to access information such as application guidelines and sponsorship opportunities.

Tour Director for the Caribbean, Lisa Bell, told JIS News that the programme, being held under the theme, ‘Impact-Driven Leadership: Creating Positive Change in Our Communities’, will explore six key subthemes – diversity and inclusion, sustainability and innovation, ethics, impact, collaboration and advocacy.

Ms. Bell informed that 100 persons will be selected to participate in the programme.

“Participants will gain first-hand exposure to complex real-world challenges across various sectors, with a focus on actionable solutions that create lasting impact,” she said.

Ms. Bell indicated that CCLD 2025 will have its opening plenary session in Toronto, Canada, where participants will get the opportunity to hear from distinguished leaders representing different sectors.

Once the opening plenary session is completed, participants will be divided into seven groups, each travelling to one of seven Caribbean nations – Jamaica, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Dominica, Grenada and Guyana – to delve deeply into their assigned subthemes.

The programme will conclude in Barbados, with a presentation of findings and recommendations, sparking further dialogue on leadership and positive community impact.

“Jamaica is proud to be a part of the 2025 staging of the CCLD and the continuing legacy of fostering the development of new leaders in the region and Canada. Several notable Jamaicans have had the privilege of participating in the dialogue and we look forward to hosting yet another group of emerging leaders from the public and private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the labour movement,” said Mrs. Bell.

The CCLD is a cross-sector leadership programme designed to cultivate impactful leaders who can drive meaningful change within their communities.

It emphasises collaboration, diversity, and innovation to address critical global and regional challenges.
