The Full Story

Jamaicans are being encouraged to support local artisans whose products will be showcased at this year’s virtual staging of the Christmas in July Trade Show.

The event, being hosted by the Tourism Linkages Network, will be streamed live on Facebook @tefjamaica and tourismja; Instagram @tefjamaica and YouTube via the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) and the Ministry of Tourism channels, on July 22, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Director of the Tourism Linkages Network, Carolyn McDonald Riley, told JIS News that the idea behind Christmas in July is to “get that order in, prior to Christmas” in December.

“We want the Jamaican populace to support the local economy, and one way to do so is really by purchasing from our local artisans this Christmas,” she added.

Mrs. McDonald Riley further informed that the event will feature 146 producers of locally made items in the categories of aromatherapy, fashion and accessories, fine art, processed foods, and souvenirs, such as desktop solutions.

“We want to encourage people to use the digital space through our different marketing platforms to buy Jamaican,” said Mrs. McDonald Riley.

The Tourism Linkages Network is a division of the TEF.
