A one-day investment symposium, designed to raise awareness among business interests in Florida, about the various investment opportunities available in the island, will be held in Miami on Saturday, December 1.The event, which is slated for the Sheraton Hotel on Griffin Road in Davie, is being organized by the Jamaica Consulate General in Miami. According to Consul General, Ricardo Allicock, almost 100 business persons are expected to participate in the symposium.
The event, he said, will bring together key business persons from Jamaica with potential investors in Florida “and will seek to foster even greater synergies in investment between Jamaica and this region beyond that which already exists.”
President of the Jamaica United States Chamber of Commerce, Marie Gill, said that the event will include panel discussions, where key business and investment information will be provided.
The discussion topics include: ‘Business opportunities in Jamaica’; ‘Governmental assistance and regulatory parameters’; and ‘Options in financial securities and real estate’.
The panelists are: Aubyn Hill, Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Strategies Limited; George Roper of the Financial Services Commission; Antoinette McKain of the Jamaica Depositors Insurance Corporation; Robert Gregory of Jamaica Trade and Invest; Jason Abrahams, Deutsche Bank; Omar Azan, President of Jamaica Manufacturers Association; Andrew Cocking of Capital and Credit Financial Group; Anya Schnoor, of Deering, Bunting and Golding; Gary Peart of Mayberry Investment; and Edwin Wint of Jamaica Realtors Association.
Florida Governor, Charlie Crist at a recent meeting with CARICOM Consuls General in Miami, said that a series of trade missions will soon be established in the Caribbean to strengthen trade relations between the United States and the region.
