Jamaica voted tops by Canadian travel agents

Canadian travel agents have voted Jamaica the number one honeymoon destination and the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) the favourite tourist board in the 2010 Agents’ Choice Awards.
This is the second year in a row that Jamaica has copped the top award in the honeymoon category and the fifth consecutive year that the JTB has been voted the choice tourist board by the Canadian travel industry.
Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, and Regional Director for the JTB in Canada, Sandra Scott, accepted the awards from Editor-in-Chief of Baxter Travel Media, Edith Baxter, during the launch of the Jamaica Travel Jamboree on Wednesday, December 8, in Toronto.
“We want to thank you all, agents and partners, for electing Jamaica yet again as the leading honeymoon destination,” Mr. Bartlett said. “On behalf of the tourist board, the Ministry of Tourism and the Government of Jamaica, we really are humbled by being voted the number one tourism bureau in Canada,” he added.
The annual Agents’ Choice Awards is organised by Canadian Travel Press and Travel Courier, the flagship publications of the Baxter Travel Media, which is the largest travel trade publisher in the Canadian marketplace. Thousands of travel agents from across the country cast ballots in a variety of categories.
Sandals/Beaches Resorts also won favourite all-inclusive, favourite environmentally friendly company, and favourite hotel chain.
