The Full Story

Jamaica has received medications and vitamins from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, valued at more than US$200,000, to support Hurricane Melissa recovery efforts.

Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, said the donation is “very valuable and timely to the people of Jamica, in their pursuit of wellness and healing”.

“It demonstrates the relationship, the friendship, and the social conscience that you possess beyond your corporate mission to give back in times of need to the people of Jamaica, and in particular to those affected in the five parishes,” the Minister said, at a handover ceremony, held on November 25, at the offices of the National Health Fund (NHF), in New Kingston.

“One of the things we can pride ourselves in, certainly from a Ministry of Health perspective, we have embraced all collaborators as long as the interest of serving the public has been maintained, and Dr. Reddy’s is certainly demonstrating that business is more than just the bottom line. It is also about helping those whom you serve to be in a position to be better off and to be good citizens as well as good clients,” the Minister added.

Dr. Tufton said the donated items comprise antibiotics, antihypertensive anti-inflammatory agents and nutritional supplements, “which are very important to the recovery process,” noting that the gifts demonstrate the strength of the bilateral partnership between India and Jamaica.

Development”.
