Jamaica Defence Force Activates Emergency Response Protocols in Preparation for Hurricane Beryl

By: , July 3, 2024

The Full Story

In anticipation of the potential impact of Hurricane Beryl, the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

As an integral part of the national emergency response mechanism, the JDF stands ready to respond to any incident that may arise as a result of the storm.

In accordance with standard protocols for national emergencies, the JDF has initiated the recall of servicemembers, including those on leave, whose expertise may be needed for specific missiondriven tasks during impending deployments. This strategic deployment of personnel will ensure that the JDF is fully prepared to assist in any necessary operation.

The JDF is working closely with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) to coordinate efforts and provide support to the citizens of Jamaica. We urge all individuals to follow the guidelines and directives issued by ODPEM to ensure their safety during this challenging time.

Additionally, we are calling on fisherfolk on the Pedro Cays to return to the mainland immediately to avoid any potential risks associated with the approaching Hurricane.

The JDF, in collaboration with our government and non-governmental partners, is committed to providing essential security and assistance to the people of Jamaica throughout this crisis. We encourage everyone to stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe. Together, we will weather this storm and emerge stronger than ever. Stay safe, Jamaica
