Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Sharon Ffolkes-Abrahams, has commended the Jamaica Biscuit Company (JAMBISCO) for being a strong pillar of the local economy for over 100 years.
Mrs. Ffolkes-Abrahams was speaking at the launch of the company’s new Excelsior Guava Cheese Sandwich Biscuit at Mandela Park in Half-Way-Tree on Friday, September 26.
She noted that the company, which was established in 1911, with just one product and one oven, has grown tremendously over the years, and has continued to innovate as it seeks to satisfy the need of Jamaicans at home and abroad.
In endorsing the launch of the new product, Mrs. Ffolkes-Abrahams said the move is in line with the Ministry’s efforts to build enterprise and to transform the economy.
“We welcome all of these developments as we fashion the way we do business around the central theme of building a logistics-centered economy. This will affect every single one of us as Jamaicans, and lead to a complete change in the way we do business in this country,” she noted.
The State Minister said the Government sees companies such as JAMBISCO as a critical part of the future of the country, as it moves towards the development of the Jamaica Global Logistics Hub Initiative.
