IEEE to Host Workshop from January 17 to 18

The world’s largest technical professional organisation, the Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE), will host a face-to-face workshop titled, ‘Towards Expanding Access to Quality Engineering Science Excellence Opportunities in Jamaica’.
This is scheduled to take place from January 17 to 18 at the University of Technology (UTech), in Kingston.
The workshop will showcase IEEE leaders globally, technical professionals, and industry experts who will, through panel discussions, talk about Jamaica’s vibrant technological landscape and future collaborative opportunities where both students and teachers could benefit.
Minister of Education and Youth, Hon. Fayval Williams, is expected to be the guest speaker.
The Ministry of Education and Youth (MOEY) is encouraging Education Officers, Principals, Teachers and Students to attend the workshop.
Keynote speakers, along with several panellists will discuss Jamaica’s innovation initiatives, how to retain local talent, the mentoring of rising stars, engaging youth, and growing the pipeline of future technical professionals.
The IEEE with over 450,000 members in more than 190 countries, has a local section in Jamaica.
The workshop is free of cost.
