The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Authority celebrated its first anniversary on April 10 with a media launch at its Old Hope Road offices in St. Andrew, using the milestone to unveil a bold vision for a more connected and efficient public sector.
The event highlighted the Authority’s ongoing efforts to streamline government information technology systems and improve how citizens access services across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
Board Chair, Professor Gunjan Mansingh, noted that by establishing a unified framework, the entity is ensuring that citizens encounter a consistent and secure interface when they access services from MDAs.
“This standardisation is the practical foundation that allows us to move from a collection of isolated units to a cohesive national infrastructure,” she stated.
Professor Mansingh emphasised that an undertaking of this magnitude cannot and should not be managed solely from the centre.
“For digital transformation to translate into a mission and vision for… Jamaica, it must be championed by the people who power the Government every day,” she said.
For this reason, Professor Mansingh stressed that the ICT Authority’s consultative approach is not a mere formality but a strategic priority.
“We don’t just deliver technology. We listen; we collaborate with our partner MDAs to ensure our solutions solve local problems and advance the national agenda of efficient service delivery. Their feedback allows us to refine the strategic planning and ensure the public sector’s ICT products are fit for purpose,” she explained.
Professor Mansingh added that the ICT Authority is working towards a Jamaica where every citizen is seamlessly connected to services, opportunities, and benefits through a government that is agile, responsive, and resolutely future ready.
