The Full Story
The operations of hospitals and health centres have returned to normal as nurses attendance levels are now regularised.
Since Tuesday (September 15, 2015) there has been a high level of absenteeism by Registered Nurses resulting in the Ministry opening the Emergency Operations Centre and activating its emergency protocol and some hospitals operating in emergency mode.
Minister of Health, Dr. Fenton Ferguson says the last two days have been very difficult for the staff that was tasked to keep the operations of the facilities going.
“I would like to thank the staff for the hard work despite the difficult situation. There was truly a team effort to ensure that persons were able to access care. The Board Chairmen, the Management and the rest of the staff in the Ministry and the Regional Health Authorities went above and beyond during this period,” Dr. Ferguson said.
He added that “I want the nurses to know that we all empathise with their cause and are looking forward to working with them to continue to provide holistic care to clients at all our health facilities.”
