The High Commission in the United Kingdom was recently honoured at the second annual Diplomatic Awards ceremony in London, organised by BEN (Black Entertainment Network) Television.
An award for Diaspora Growth, Development and Involvement; Good Customer Service; Promoting the Country’s Image; and Human Development was presented to the
Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs. Joan Thomas Edwards, who thanked BEN television for recognising excellence within the UK’s ethnic communities.
Mrs. Thomas Edwards also commended the television station for its work in promoting strong positive links between the African and Caribbean communities. She said that the Jamaican High Commission will continue to work hard to improve its services to the Jamaican and wider community.
The Diplomatic Award is organised by BEN Television in recognition of achievements and corporate successes of individuals and agencies within the African, Caribbean, Asian and Pacific communities in the United Kingdom.
BEN is a British television channel launched in 2003, aimed mainly at expatriate Africans living in Europe.
