Health Minister, Hon. Dr. Fenton Ferguson, will head a list of eight distinguished persons to be recognized by the Caribbean American Outreach Association (CAOA), at its annual awards dinner, to be held at the JFK Hilton Hotel in Queens, New York, on Saturday, November 9.
These persons will be honoured for their contribution in the areas of public service, professional excellence and philanthropy.
In the area of health, Dr. Ferguson and Dr. Stanley Matthews; President of the Caribbean Nurses Association (CNA), Ms. Claudette Powell and Nurse Jacqueline Jacobs will be recognized for their contribution to that sector.
Entrepreneur and founder of ‘Conrad’s Bakery’, Mr. Conrad Ifill; Head of the franchise division of ‘Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill’, Mr. Omar Hawthorne; Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Ms. Hyacinth Simms and founder of ‘Byways and Hedges Youth for Christ Ministry’, Rev. Terry Lee, will also be honoured.
According to President of CAOA, Ms. Jean Hamilton, this year’s honorees represent just a small insight into the work of the Diaspora.
“Our goal is multi-pronged and includes promoting healthcare and wellness within the boroughs of New York as well as the Caribbean region,” she explained.
The Barbadian Consul General to New York, Lennox Price, will deliver the keynote address.
