Fire fighters in Lucea, Hanover will soon enjoy improved working conditions as the Ministry of Local Government and Environment has signed a contract with Bajad Limited to refurbish that fire station.
The contract valued at $18.1 million, was signed by Minister of State in the Ministry of Local Government and Environment, Harry Douglas and Managing Director of Bajad Limited, Douglas Bowes at the Ministry’s Hagley Park Road offices in Kingston.
According to Mr. Douglas, the roof of the existing facility has developed numerous leaks and the building is currently crammed for space, which is presenting “a real problem for the fire fighters.”
The renovation, which will commence on the 6th of November, will see the expansion of the existing structure to include new office spaces, a gym, kitchen, and sanitary facilities, and will also include repairs to the existing roof.
Work is expected to be completed within six months and will be supervised by technical teams from the Ministry of Local Government and Environment and the Hanover Parish Council.
