The Full Story

Works will continue on the widening and dualisation of Grange Lane in St. Catherine through a budgetary allocation of $600 million in the upcoming fiscal year.

The sum is contained in the 2024/25 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.

Being implemented by the National Works Agency (NWA), the project, which began in 2022, is slated to end in March 2025.

It is intended to improve mobility and connectivity, reduce congestion and loss of time, improve safety, and facilitate future economic development through installation of water infrastructure and fibre-optic ducts for broadband connectivity along the corridor.

Up to December 2023, physical achievements under the project have included the completion of design drawings, the award of a contract to undertake the widening and dualisation of Grange Lane, and the issuance of an order of commencement.

For fiscal year 2024/25, programmed works include the 100 per cent completion of the rehabilitation of 0.7 kilometres of road pavement, installation of road-safety improvements, improvement of NWA infrastructure along the Grange Lane corridor, and the installation of 1,400m of fibre-optic ducts.
