Prime Minister the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, says the Government will continue to provide support for the productive sectors to enable them to become more competitive.

He said the restoration of incentives under the Junior Stock Exchange will help businesses to raise capital to grow their operations.

“We know that the cost of financing is a constraint on your business. It limits your horizons for growth and this is why we have restored the incentives and shortly we will take the necessary legislative (changes) to give effect to the restoration,” he said.

Mr. Holness was speaking at the official opening ceremony for Expo Jamaica 2016 at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston on April 14.

In commending the country’s manufacturers, the Prime Minister said they have been innovating, investing, establishing new markets, setting new trends and taking risks.

He pledged that the Government will strengthen the environment for businesses to strive and stimulate growth and development in the country.

“We have already started to effect change in the business process and the regulatory environment in Jamaica,” he noted.

Expo Jamaica 2016 is being staged by the Jamaica Exporters’ Association (JEA) and the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) in partnership with the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO).
