The Full Story

The Government is looking to launch the tender process for expansion of the North Coast Highway during the fourth quarter of 2024.

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness said that the requisite documentation is being compiled.

Mr. Holness, who was making his contribution to the 2024/25 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on March 21, said that plans are “well advanced” for the public-private partnership, which will involve expansion of the roadway from Sea Castles in St. James to Mammee Bay in St. Ann from two lanes to four lanes.

He said that the expansion will address the congestion that exists along the corridor.

The Prime Minister told the House that several studies have been completed as part of the due-diligence process for the highway development, including traffic, environmental and social impact studies.
