The Government has launched the Jamaica Data Exchange Platform (JDXP), a digital system set to revolutionise how citizens access public services by enabling secure and seamless data sharing across institutions.

Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister responsible for Efficiency, Innovation and Digital Transformation, Hon. Ambassador Audrey Marks, highlighted that JDXP is a foundational pillar of the country’s digital transformation agenda.

“The JDXP represents a simple but powerful shift from data silos to data sharing, from fragmented systems to an integrated government, from slow manual processes to real-time seamless services,” she said.

Ambassador Marks was addressing the media launch of the Information and Communications Technology Authority called JAMICTA at its Old Hope Road offices on Friday (April 10).

She shared that at some point, every Jamaican has had to move from one office to another, carrying physical documents, filling out the same forms and waiting weeks to complete a simple task.

“The Jamaica Data Exchange Platform changes that. It is a secure digital system that allows approved organisations to verify information instantly. Think of it as a trusted bridge connecting government agencies and businesses,” she explained.

Ambassador Marks said the aim is for all 18 ministries and more than 100 public bodies with shareable data to use JDXP to ensure public service to citizens is efficient.

The platform will also facilitate collaboration with the private sector, such as the banks.

“If you go to the bank to open an account, instead of waiting for your documents to be processed manually, your identity can be confirmed in real-time with your national ID. No back and forth, no duplication, no delays,” she said.

Ambassador Marks added that it is her intention to ensure that opening bank accounts in Jamaica moves to First-World standards.

“A bank account can be opened within one hour. We are going to be working with the banks to reform how we have access and to ensure more financial inclusion for every Jamaican,” she said.
