Bio

Senator the Honourable Abka Lincoln Ramon Fitz-Henley is State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for communication.

Prior to his appointment as State Minister, Minister Fitz-Henley served as Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister. He has been a member of the upper house of Parliament since May 2023.

Minister Fitz-Henley is an accomplished communication practitioner who has served as consultant on a range of major private and public sector initiatives.

Before his entry into Government, Senator Fitz-Henley served for over a decade as a broadcast journalist and current affairs anchor during which he racked up several awards, including in 2016, when he won the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) Journalist of the Year award. In that same year, he was the winner of the private sector-sponsored Fair Play Award.

Fitz-Henley also won the Press Association of Jamaica Young Journalist of the Year Award during his first year in broadcast media and is also the recipient of the Office of the Prime Minister Youth Award for his contribution to mass media.

Senator Fitz-Henley has a passion for defending the rights of the under-privileged in society and in former years has also served in a senior capacity at the Office of the Public Defender, which is a Commission of Parliament in Jamaica tasked with giving a voice to the voiceless and championing the cause of members of the public who are aggrieved.

Senator Fitz-Henley is a nationalist who has a passion for current affairs, including sports, and is firmly committed to brand Jamaica.
