Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, says the six new Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) focused high schools are still in the pipeline, amidst being delayed by the pandemic.
These schools will prepare students for careers in STEM fields.
Speaking during his contribution to the 2021/22 Budget debate on March 18, Mr. Holness said, the Government has identified locations, and this year, will move forward with detailed designs and implementation plans for two of the six STEM focused high schools.
“We have taken the time to do the designs and the planning. We have identified two locations and we are proceeding with the finalization of the plans and they are at the public investment process to be approved. So they are well on their way to be delivered. We are going to have some first class schools in science and technology,” Mr. Holness said.
He added that the Chinese Government is to assist with the development of three of the schools, while the Government will be responsible for covering the cost for the other three.
