Prime Minister the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller says the government will continue its efforts to attract both foreign and local investment, to create jobs and to grow the economy.

Mrs. Simpson Miller was making her presentation in the 2014/15 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, April 29.

She informed that Noranda Bauxite is investing US$18 million in expanding their port at Discovery Bay.

In addition, she stated that Digicel is investing US$80 million to put infrastructure in place to tap into opportunities emanating from the Logistics Hub.

LIME is investing $8.7 billion to deploy a cutting-edge 4G Mobile Network. All three telecoms:  Digicel, LIME and FLOW are getting Hub-ready,” Mrs. Simpson Miller said.

She also noted that there is expansion taking place in renewable energy, with the Jamaica Public Service recently opening the Hydro-electric plant in Maggoty, St. Elizabeth.

The Prime Minister added that there has been increased investment in the Wigton Wind Farm, in Manchester, and other investments in renewable energy.
