KINGSTON — Refurbishing work at Gordon House should be completed on December 1 to facilitate resumption of Parliamentary sittings at the Duke Street location.

This was disclosed by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tarn Peralto, during Tuesday's sitting of the Lower House at the Jamaica Conference Centre.

"The information that I have presently is that (the contractors) are nearing completion. The understanding is that as of December 1, the building will be ready and thereafter, we will have our sittings…back at our permanent residence on Duke Street," Mr. Peralto said.

He was responding to questions from Opposition Member of Parliament for Central Kingston, Rev. Ronald Thwaites, who wanted to know when sittings of Parliament will resume at Gordon House.

The Jamaica Conference Centre has been the temporary home for the sittings of both the Senate and the Lower House since September, due to repair work being done on the roof of Gordon House.
