The Full Story

Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill will open its 108th store in Maryland on Saturday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. The store is located in the Mall at Prince Georges Plaza, 3055 East-West Highway, Hyattsville.
Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, Professor Gordon Shirley, will deliver the keynote address and cut the ribbon to signal the official opening of the store. Golden Krust President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lowell Hawthorne will present the official plaque to the franchisees Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Gordon.
Mr. Hawthorne said Maryland was one of the states that Golden Krust was now moving into in establishing its chain of stores. “The trend of the restaurant business is growing in that area and Golden Krust is now moving to capitalise on this market and to bring Jamaican cuisine to both the Caribbean and American communities,” he said.
Golden Krust, the CEO added, will “bring to Maryland a concept that is a Caribbean theme with a strong Jamaican emphasis: authentic jerk chicken and nine varieties of patties.”
The restaurant is the fastest growing Caribbean franchise in the United States, located in nine states. In August Golden Krust opened four stores in Atlanta, Georgia.
