Stating that Jamaica has much to celebrate in health care delivery over the years, the Governor General said the country has established a good record in the delivery of primary health care, adding that any partnership forged to support the health care system can only result in making that record even more impressive.
Stressing that it is important to ensure that the health service responds quickly to the needs of the service, if the Vision 2030 goals are to be realized, he said other imperatives in the quest to achieve those objectives, include the promotion of healthy lifestyles among the citizens of the country, and the provision of facilities with well trained workers and good management systems to provide the required service.
In commending the Issa Foundation for the role it is playing in providing well needed medical equipment for Jamaicans, he said the organisation had demonstrated that corporate benevolence was one way through which the provision of good equipment for the country’s hospital could be achieved.
Turning to the operation of the Annotto Bay Hospital, the Governor General said that the institution has always been highly regarded for the quality service it provides, and congratulated the staff for the role they were playing in ensuring that the quality is maintained.
Also speaking at the function, Wesley Davis, Chairman of the North Eastern Regional Health Authority Board, and Dr. Ray Fraser, Senior Medical Officer at the hospital, both thanked the Issa Trust Foundation for their support, and underscored the commitment of the hospital’s staff to ensuring that the facility continues to provide the best quality health care for the people it serves.
