G.C. Foster College to Host Physical Education Symposium

Physical Education teachers across the island are being invited to participate in a professional symposium aimed at strengthening research capacity, promoting knowledge-sharing, and enhancing the delivery of Physical Education and Sport in Jamaica.

The symposium, being hosted by G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, will be held on Thursday, October 22, at the institution’s campus in St. Catherine

The event will be held under the theme, ‘The G.C. Foster College Story: A Legacy of Excellence, A Future of Possibilities’.

A bulletin issued by the Ministry stated that the symposium forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the professional capacity of Physical Education teachers by providing opportunities to engage with research, evidence-informed practice, professional dialogue and emerging developments in the sector.

Participants will be exposed to practical approaches to conducting research within their own educational settings and will gain greater confidence in identifying classroom and school-based challenges, gathering and interpreting evidence, and applying findings to improve teaching and learning outcomes.

The symposium will also provide a platform for teachers to explore research, policy and professional perspectives that support the delivery of quality Physical Education and Sport.

Additionally, participants will share their experiences and insights while helping to shape discussions on the future of Physical Education and Sport in Jamaica.

This engagement forms part of a broader professional development and capacity-building programme for Physical Education teachers, featuring future workshops, webinars and other initiatives aimed at strengthening research, evidence-informed practice, and the delivery of Physical Education and Sport.
