The Full Story

Florence Hill in the constituency of St. Andrew West Rural is to benefit from a community park that should be finished by this Friday (October 27).

So says Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, who provided details on several projects in the constituency during the State of the Constituency Debate in the House of Representatives, on Tuesday (October 24).

“It is a fact that communities with an emphasis on beautification, green spaces, parks and recreational areas are guaranteed to create a more harmonious space for residents. It is good for the environment and provides an excellent ambience for our children to grow and thrive. There is nothing in this world that can supersede a safe space where you can enjoy nature, exercise, or just relax, stress-free,” Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn said.

“This was my purpose and intention when I decided to use the allocation for the Florence Hill Community Park. The park will be finished by this Friday and this will be a beautiful space for families to enjoy,” the MP said.

Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn, who is also State Minister in the Ministry of National Security, thanked the Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, and the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) for the $4-million allocation.

She noted that for many years, the area where the park has been constructed was used as a major dumping site.

She also told the House that a section of the Temple Hall main road that was also being used as a dumping ground was transformed last year.

“I will continue to transform the spaces in need of beautification for the betterment of the people. It is my intention to replicate this idea across as much of the constituency as possible, and to encourage both State agencies and private stakeholders to share the vision,” the MP said.
