The Full Story

Members of the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) were among thousands of Jamaicans who successfully executed a series of beautification and improvement projects across Jamaica, on National Labour Day 2026, officially celebrated on Monday, May 25.

The Authority mobilised its workforce from all four of its locations to support and uplift four childcare facilities, which included two children’s homes and two schools selected within proximity to its regional offices and head office.

Staff members volunteered their time to ensure that the interventions had a meaningful impact on these institutions and the children they serve.

Corporate Communications Officer, Cait-Amoi Goulbourne, underscored the significance of the initiative, noting that Labour Day is more than just a public holiday, it is a call to national service.

Members of the Firearm Licensing Authority’s (FLA) Southern Regional Office paint a wall at the Hanbury Children’s Home. The renovation project was one of four Labour Day initiatives successfully undertaken by the Authority on May 25.

“For the FLA, dedicating our time to these children’s homes and schools across Jamaica is our way of ensuring that our operational footprint goes beyond regulatory duties and genuinely uplifts the communities we serve. Our youth are our future, and they deserve spaces that inspire them to thrive,” she said.

The projects reflect the Authority’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility. The FLA has a track record of undertaking Labour Day initiatives, and this year’s efforts continue the tradition of giving back to communities in tangible ways.

By dedicating time and resources to these institutions, the FLA reinforced its role not only as a regulator but also as a partner in national development, ensuring that children across Jamaica benefit from environments that foster growth, dignity, and hope.
