In response to reports appearing in the media about the lack of coverage of the FINSAC Commission of Enquiry being held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston, the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) wishes to inform the public of the following:
The FINSAC Enquiry is aired on cable television station, Cable News & Sports (CNS), available on channel 15 on most major networks including Flow, Tuesdays to Thursdays between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on days when the Commission sits.
There is a rebroadcast at 10:00 p.m. each evening on CNS, and viewers can also watch the archived videos available on the JIS website.
The Commission was appointed by the Government to review the 1990s financial sector collapse, which led to the creation of the Financial Sector Adjustment Company (FINSAC). FINSAC was established by the Government of Jamaica in January 1997, with a mandate to restore stability to Jamaica’s financial institutions after the financial meltdown.
