Farmer’s Heights Families Receive Back-to-school Support

Children and low-income families in the farming community of Farmer’s Heights, St. Ann, benefited from much-needed support ahead of the new school year through a back-to-school treat and food drive hosted by the NGD Quintessential Foundation Limited.

The initiative, held recently, provided children with books, school supplies and food items, while also offering encouragement and assistance to families facing financial and other challenges.

Director of the Foundation, Natayla Reid, noted that the experience underscored the need for sustained support for children and families in the community.

“It pained my heart when a child said to me that he was sad because he did not receive a school bag,” she said.

Ms. Reid also recounted the case of a mother seeking assistance with textbooks for her daughter, who had performed exceptionally well academically and was preparing to attend a prominent high school in St. Ann.

She said the Foundation is grateful to San San Supermarket in St. Ann’s Bay for donating most of the notebooks distributed to the children, and to Faith City House of Prayer for its significant contribution to the initiative.

Ms. Reid indicated that the Foundation hopes to expand the outreach next year, enabling it to assist more residents.

“We hope that next year, if the Lord will, we will be able to do the treat and the food drive… bigger and better, with the hope of leaving no one in the community behind,” she said.

Ms. Reid gave the assurance that the Foundation remains committed to advocating for children and low-income families, while working alongside residents, donors, businesses and other partners to improve the quality of life in Farmer’s Heights.

“The treat may have been small, but its message was significant. Our children matter, our families matter, and the community of Farmer’s Heights matters,” she maintained.
