Farm Workers Urged to Exercise Caution
The Ministry of Labour & Social Security.

The Full Story

Persons selected for the overseas farm work programme and are being processed today (May 16), are urged to exercise extreme caution as they make their way to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, in downtown Kingston.

A Statement from Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Collette Roberts Risden, said the Ministry will endeavour to reschedule the processing of persons who are unable to come in today.

The statement comes as the island is being lashed by outbreaks of heavy rainfall, making it very difficult for persons to travel.

Meanwhile, the Ministry informed JIS News that some 200 farm workers are scheduled to leave for Canada tomorrow (May 17), and they are being processed. Some workers are also slated to travel to the United States on the same day.

The Ministry also pointed out that persons who are not processed today will be accommodated as soon as they come in and arrangements made with the airline for them to leave.
