Fifty-one farm roads across all parishes that were affected by Hurricane Beryl are being rehabilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, at a cost of $70 million.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Ministry’s Hope Gardens offices recently, portfolio Minister, Hon. Floyd Green, said, “We do know that Hurricane Beryl caused damage to a number of farm roads in critical areas. We’re focusing on roads all over, but especially in our hardest-hit areas.”
The repairs will be carried out under the Post-Beryl Flood Damage Programme.
The targeted roads include Cedar Mount, Colbeck Farm, Sandy Hill and Ennis/Florence Roads in St. Catherine; Curatoe Hill, Long Wood, Crawl Pass and Comfort Roads in Clarendon; and Content, Slipe Lane and Top Flagaman Roads in St. Elizabeth.
Hurricane Beryl affected Jamaica on July 3, causing significant damage to the island’s south coast.
