The Full Story

It will definitely be a family affair for the Prime Minister’s Youth Awards on Sunday (December 6) at Emancipation Park in Kingston, as the show will feature, mother and daughter, brothers, and entire families performing.
Among those confirmed to perform are reggae singer Alaine and her mother Myrna; gospel DJ Goddy Goddy and his brother Ryan Mark; as well as Jazz musician Jon Williams and his family.
The performance by families is in keeping with the theme of the Prime Minister’s Youth Awards: Jamaican Youth, Embracing Support.
“There is no greater support than the family’s support. What better way to reflect support than to ask this fantastic cast of mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers to perform together as family? I am inviting all families to come out and join us on Sunday and really give our support to each of our young people who will be honoured for their outstanding achievements,” said Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon Olivia Grange.
Also on the programme are dancer and choreographer Arsenio Andrade and his family; Reggae singer Junior Reid and his family; Freddie McGregor and his family; and Levy’s Heritage.
The St George’s College Choir, LNS, Shady Squad, I Octane and Gee Wiz have also been confirmed to perform.
The annual awards recognise outstanding Jamaican youth (15-24 years old) in the fields of Academics, Agriculture, Arts and Culture, Entrepreneurship, Journalism, Leadership, Sports and Youth in Service.
