Entries Invited for Earth Day Competition

The Natural History Museum of Jamaica, a division of the Institute of Jamaica, is inviting entries for its Earth Day 2024 Competition, which will be hosted under the theme ‘Planet vs. Plastic’.

This is in observance of Earth Day, which will be celebrated on Monday, April 22.

The competition is open to all children and youth aged 12 to 19 years or students in grades seven to 13.

The competition will be divided into two categories, facilitating lower and upper school.

The lower-school age of 12 to 14 years will be eligible to participate in the Poetry category under the theme ‘Plastic Madness’, while the upper-school age, 15 to 19 years, will be eligible to participate in the Poster category under the theme ‘Planet vs. Plastic: Which World Would You Rather?’ and the Photography category under the theme ‘Turning Tides On Plastic’.

Eligible students are asked to submit individual entries to these categories.

There will also be an open video category for all ages.

They will be required to submit a one-minute video clip under the theme ‘Be The Solution To Plastic Pollution’.

The deadline for submission of entries is Friday, March 15, 2024.

The winners will be announced at the Annual Earth Day Competition Awards Ceremony.
