Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, Senator Dr. the Hon. Dana Morris Dixon, is encouraging organisations and entities to pursue service excellence and be “digitally bold”.

She was bringing greetings on Wednesday (October 4) during a two-day virtual Service Excellence Conference staged by the Jamaica Customer Service Association (JaCSA).

“The digital domain is still the realm of the customer. This pivotal movement and moment demand that we adapt and innovate. This moment demands that we be digitally bold,” Dr. Dixon said.

She called on entities to maintain the timeless values that make service truly exceptional, among these “empathy, responsiveness, an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction”.

Dr. Dixon, who has oversight for skills and digital transformation, said the Government recognises and is committed to these values, noting that with every transaction there is a bond of trust.

“Trust that the service will be impeccable. Trust that their data will be protected, and trust that they are not just another statistic, but a valued customer,” she emphasised .

Additionally, the Minister said that all goods and service providers must remember that the customer reigns in the store as well as online.

However, she noted that digital transformation is not just about implementing innovative technology.

“Technology is not an end in itself. It is a means to an end and that end is the efficient delivery of government goods and services to our citizens. It is about service excellence. It is about respect.

“It is because we respect the people of Jamaica that we are working to cut down on the need to go from government office to government office trying to get a simple service. It is because we respect the people that we will be using technology to deliver better social services,” Dr. Dixon added.

The conference was staged from October 3 to 4 under the theme – ‘The Power of Service Excellence in Building Trust in a Digital World’.

It formed part of the JaCSA’s National Customer Service Week activities, from October 1 to 7.
