Education Ministry Postpones Start of National Summer Academy

Due to the adverse effects of Hurricane Beryl, including significant disruption to utilities and infrastructure, the Ministry of Education and Youth has postponed the start of the National Summer Academy 2024.

Originally scheduled to commence on July 8, the start date has been deferred until further notice.

The summer academy aims to improve literacy and numeracy among students.

In a bulletin issued recently, the Ministry extended its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the impact of the hurricane.

The Ministry said the decision to postpone the start of the summer programme is to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

The Ministry is committed to keeping stakeholders informed and will provide updates regarding the rescheduling of the summer academy as soon as the situation permits.

Assessment of damage is under way and repairs are being done to schools as the country works towards recovery and rebuilding, emerging stronger from this adversity, the bulletin said.
